Running Shoes

There are dozens of good running shoes available to you. You just have to research them and choose the right pair. Here are some tips to make the experience easier. Good running shops will measure your feet and look at your gait for the perfect pair.
Don’t buy the cheapest
It is the old adage of you get what you pay for. The more you pay the more technical the shoe, but do you really have to have it in this season’s colour? Make sure you are paying for a good quality trainer appropriate to your needs rather than for a fashion statement. End of season sales are a perfect time to shop.
The cheapest of shoes will not usually provide the best cushioning and support.
What to look for
There is no substitute for trying on several pairs. Walk or jog (some good sports retailers will provide treadmills for this purpose) in them. They should feel firm and supportive but not tight. Leave a little room for expansion, as your feet will swell when you run.
Function
Check out the sole of the shoe. If you plan to run mostly off road ensure you have good grip. The tread should help you grip the mud and assist you on hills. You may need a light shoe or one with more support or ones that can take orthotics. Choose easy laces rather than ones that need adjusting every time you put them on. Choose a cut away heel to prevent injuries to the Achilles tendon.
Ensure your toes do not slip forward and are not crushed together.
