Chair based exercise classes, OTAGO strength & balance and Postural Stability classes.

These are specialist, evidence based, effective exercise programs for falls prevention.

CHAIR BASED CLASSES

These seated exercise classes are ideal for those who cannot stand for long, use walking aids or a wheelchair. 

Therabands or hand weights may be used for strength work. 

Tuesdays at Christchurch Baptist Church.

OTAGO STRENGTH & BALANCE
FOR FALLS PREVENTION

 

A mainly standing class which safely challenges balance (with the support of a chair back or ballet bar). There are some seated sections in the class for strength work. Therabands and sometimes ankle or hand weights are used.

POSTURAL STABILITY FOR FALLS PREVENTION

This class is a combination of standing and floor based work. Your own exercise mat is required. Therabands and sometimes ankle or hand weights are used for strength work and are provided if you don't have your own.

I have been attending Suzina’s Postural Stability class for around 3 years.

I hit the big 60 and decided I needed to get into shape.

I am not one for the gym or jogging, preferring to walk my dog or gardening. Fast strenuous exercise is not for me.

I find Suzina’s balance and pace of exercises suits me very well. It’s varied and covers many toning, stretching, strengthening and balance exercises. Nothing is fast paced. She explains everything clearly and wants the best for her students. Suzina is very approachable and encouraging. I can honestly say that I really enjoy her class.

This class is a members only class which comprises of exercises for strength, balance, mobility and flexibility.
