What is a portion?

Most of us know that we should be aiming to eat at least 5 portions of fruit & vegetables daily but do you know what counts as a portion? The following may help to guide you.

 

FRUIT

Apple, orange or banana                                                                   1 fruit

Melon, pineapple                                                                                   1 large slice

Plum, kiwi, Satsuma                                                                              2 fruit

Berries & grapes                                                                                    1 cup

Fruit salad, stewed/tinned fruit                                                       2-3 tablespoons

Fruit juice                                                                                              150ml

Dried fruit                                                                                              1 tablespoon

 

VEGETABLES

Salad                                                                                                      1 dessert bowl

Tinned, raw, cooked, frozen vegetables                                    2 tablespoons
