TIPS FOR EATING OUT
Here are some top tips to help keep it healthy and keep the calories down but still enjoying a nice meal out at a restauarnt.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for a half portion if it stops you over eating.
- Also to cut down the amount you eat, choose an appetiser as a main course or share a main with a friend.
- If going for the soup, choose clear or tomato rather than creamy ones.
- Ask for the vegetables without butter.
- To keep the fat content down choose steamed, grilled, poached or stir fried foods rather than deep fried.
- Ask for sauces to be served ‘on the side’ so you can reduce how much of it you eat.
- Opt for low fat salad dressing.
- Don’t add salt to your meal.
- If all the desserts are high in fat and sugar either skip them or ask the waiter for a piece of fruit instead.
- Avoid the cheese and biscuits.
